Jamie Simmonds was appointed Non-Executive Director at The Access Bank Malta Limited in December 2024.

Jamie Simmonds was appointed founding CEO/MD of The Access Bank UK Limited in January 2008. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School Executive Management Programme, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, a member of the Association of Foreign Bankers and a certified financial adviser.

He has a wealth of financial services experience, having held several director roles at National Westminster, Coutts, Royal Bank of Scotland, Gerrards and Close Brothers. He has a proven track record in the start-up and turnaround of financial service businesses, delivering sustainable benefits for all stakeholders. He has extensive knowledge of corporate, retail and private banking.

Alyson Jeans has served as the Commercial Banking and Asset Management Director at The Access Bank UK Limited since 2008. Over these years, Alyson has delivered the successful growth of the Bank’s commercial banking and asset management activities.

Alyson has a career spanning over 42 years in banking, having held senior roles at Halifax, HBOS, and the Royal Bank of Scotland, where she managed the bank’s retail, business, and premium banking networks. She also held the position of Sales and Marketing Director at Close Wealth Management Ltd.

Alyson is a Fellow of the London Institute of Banking and Finance, holds an MBA, and is a Harvard Business School alumnus.

Doreanne Caruana was appointed an Independent Non-Executive Director at The Access Bank Malta Limited in December 2024.
Since 2019, Doreanne is the Head of Corporate Advisory at Rizzo Farrugia & Co, a leading Stockbroking Company in Malta.

Over the years, Ms. Caruana has garnered vast experience in the Financial Services industry, and during her eight-year spell at FIMBank plc she held different roles including that of Credit Risk Analyst within the Risk Management Department, among others. Additionally, Ms. Caruana chairs the Sub Committee within the Capital Markets Working Group of the Malta Financial Services Advisory Council (MFSA).

Ms. Caruana was awarded a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Banking and Finance, an Executive MBA in Strategic Planning and Niche Markets as well as a Master of Arts in Financial Services Law.

Cristina Maria Casingena was appointed an Independent Non-Executive Director at The Access Bank Malta Limited in December 2024.

Ms. Casingena has years of experience in leadership positions and was recently appointed as CEO of Curmi & Partners, a leading Stockbroking Firm in Malta. During her career, Ms. Casingena served as Chief Investment Officer with HSBC Life Assurance (Malta), CEO at LifeStar Insurance as well as being the Founder and CEO of Numinara Ltd.

Ms. Casingena has a Bachelor of Science in Pure Mathematics from West University of Timisoara, Romania, and Masters in Actuarial Science from Academia de Studii Economice din București, Bucharest.

Renald Theuma was appointed Chief Executive Director and Managing Director of The Access Bank Malta Limited in December 2024.

Renald holds a BSc (Hons) in Financial Services from the University of Manchester, is an Associate of the London Institute of Banking & Finance and is a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist.

He has previously served as Deputy CEO and Head of Business Development at IIG Bank (Malta) Ltd, and as Executive Vice President at FIMBank plc. Earlier in his career, as a Senior Manager at Bank of Valletta plc, he played a pivotal role in establishing the Trade Finance Centre and streamlining the bank’s trade services.

Ian Callus was appointed Executive Director at The Access Bank Malta Limited in December 2024.

Ian Callus was appointed as Finance Director of The Access Bank Malta Limited in December 2024. Ian is an Executive Finance Director within the Board of Directors. Ian is an experienced financial and IT advisor and joined the Bank from FIMBank plc, where he held the position of Head of Business Performance and Analysis. Prior to that, Ian was employed as a Senior Manager in Financial Planning and Analysis at Bank of Valletta plc.

Ian also served as Head of Internal Audit at fintech company and had a six-month spell as Senior Accountant of Product Control at MeDirect Bank. Ian originally started his career by spending six years at KPMG Malta, where he advanced to Manager Financial and IT Audit Department.
